IBS is the study of the new, innovative modern way of construction which is by prefabricted construction. While this elective module is also a topic for Construction Technology III, it is more in-depth to the study, researching on the future of IBS, its importance, the uses in Malaysia, the benefits it gives to the country's economic growth & its environmental aspects, all through intensive research to complete tasks and assignments
This module is taught by Ms. Theong May Chuan and so far is the module with the most assignments, as it consists of class activities such as case study and IBS Roadmap review, individual assignment as a research psper, group assignments comprising of factory visit report & a business plan. Despite that, this elective module does not have a final exam and mid term test unlike other elective modules.
Learning Outcomes

Define and understand the implications of adopting new technology in the construction industry.
-
Develop a framework of the flow of elements, information and players for IBS projects.
-
Transform theories into practice in real life cases.
-
Enhance lifelong learning process that will enable a development of critical analysing capabilities.
Class Activities
Occasionally, we were given a class activity through the semester that relates to IBS. In the end we were given 2 class activities which consists of a case study on a two buildings that uses IBS & an IBS Roadmap review.
The case study helps us reflect on the usage of IBS in a building, the cost, the facts, the time, the labour it uses, while comparing with another building using IBS. My group decided to do a case study between the Centre of Science & Industry in Columbus, Ohio & Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
IBS Roadmap is a set of goals made by the malaysian government to improve on the country's usage of IBS, these goals are organised to the people who can achieve them such as the people, industry or business and are updated every 5 years but some of them are not achieved, our task is to identify these goals and find a solution to them.

Individual Assignment - Research Paper
The individual assignment of the module is a research paper, relating on a subjetc/issue of IBS, where information & facts must be obtained through approved literatures. Different individuals shall have different issues to review on. My subject is on the matter of time comparison between IBS & traditional construction.
Group Assignment - Factory Visit Report
In the first group assignment, we were required to do a factory visit report of a site that we have chosen that manufactures IBS components, whether it be precast panels, formworks and so on. The factory report is to consist of information about the company, the components, its manufacturing process & the roles of the manufacturers. The factory visit ended up with the factory by Swissma, who also partners with SANKO. Swissma is a metal roofing manufacturing company.
Group Assignment - Business Plan & Presentation
For the second group assignment, we were assigned to visualise ourselves as subcontractors relating to IBS construction & create a business plan of the company. After handing in our business plan, a presentation must be given to show our classmates our assignment. The business plan must cover 3 aspects that a company needs as taught in one of the IBS lectures, which are Marketing, Finance & the Business itself (Management, legal structure, etc.). My group has decided on being a construction delivery company named 'maXout'.
