ABOUT ME

I was born in Brunei Darussalam as a third child of a happy family of 6 siblings. I studied a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying course in Taylor's University in Malaysia, after I studied the Foundation course from the same university through my qualifications as an O-level graduate.

Born in 1997, I am 19 years old at the time my final semester ends (2017). Quite the young age, but I have learned that with age comes greater experience and wisdom, which helps in going through the course. And certainly, after completing my studies, I have earned great wisdom in my journey.

How I changed

Throughout the course, I extended my capabilities outside of Quantity Surveying, I was able to create Infographics through Photoshop, make Prezis & recently I learned to use iMovie. I plan to further extend them by learning more, to be able to make a better impact on assignments.

I have also identified myself as a visual learner, this allowed to me to study better and is how I am able to use my capabilities as mentioned. Other than that I became more of a planner since coming to this university, fully utilising the reminders & calenders app, this would also imply that I am a well-organised person, not just someone with a checklist and a schedule, but for me, something like reports must be organised properly.

I was a quite boy in my secondary school days, I have learned to be more assertive & cooperative while also staying as a modest and friendly person. Because of this, I have also greatly enhanced my presentation skills, not to flatter myself really, but I have received applause from lecturers & friends for my performance on presentations since my foundation course. By learning to be assertive, I have also enhanced my leadership skills, taking the initiative when doing group projects even when I'm not the leader.

Who I aim to be

I aim to be inspirational, reliable, organised, confident, capable & many more. I want to be someone people look up to and respect as a friend. I want to be the one to takes the initiative, holds up the flag & lead a group. I want to be someone who people go to, to ask questions knowing I would make them understand. I want people to appreciate being in a group with me.  The feeling of helping & inspiring other people is a great feeling for me, it makes me go to bed with a smile. Which would be better, congratulating people or when other people congratulate you?

Who has inspired me

Many people, some people I know, some people I've never even met.

My parents, as parents of 6 children, they would still give their time, effort & money towards me & all my siblings, they've managed to pull my family closer and closer by the minute, they taught me the importance of family, god, and I love them. My dad would go thousands of miles accross the country to help me in any way possible, my mom would never stop caring for me, praying for me. I love them so much and I pray to god that they are blessed for their efforts and for being the best parents I could ever have.

Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), truly an inspirational man towards Muslims and even some non-muslims who reads his stories. Kind, generous, forgiving, patient & many, many more. You don't have to meet him to love him. He has helped inspire me to always be kind to everyone no matter what he/she has done to me, ask anyone in my class, I'm friends with everyone!

Manoj Bhargava, a businessman who I've taken an inspiration of mostly on his valiant efforts to save the world. I aspire to be him in terms of being rich & successful but still modest, generous and giving. I've been inspired by many of his quotes that up to now is still stuck in my mind. He's now helping out world hunger, clean water & public healthcare around the globe funded by his profit.

Curriculum Vitae

Where am I now?

After graduating from Taylor's University, I have pursued a Master's degree in Project Management based in Nottingham Trent University, to graduate in 2018. I believe that Project Management in Construction is the necessary next step towards further development as a professional, to earn new sets of skills and a unique speciality in the industry outside of the Quantity Surveying scope. My long term goals include opening a Project Management firm based in Brunei, something rarely implemented but is widely successful in my home country.
