Construction Technology III

This module is another continuation of a module from the previous semester, hence providing us with a familiar scope and understanding.

Just like the previous module, this module introduces to us the system, structures and construction processes of different types of buildings for the same reason, because our career requires us to know the ins & outs of a building to measure, whether it uses different construction processes or whether it uses different materials while also studying about its uses, importance, advantages, disadvantages & of course when and why it is used.

In this semester, our main focus was the implementation of Industrialised Building System (IBS), also known as prefabricated construction, learning about its uses, the different types, the installation and so on. Other areas include Retaining walls, Dewatering system, Prestressing & Green Buildings.

This module was again taught by the experienced Mr. Chiew Seng Khoon and consists of a mid-term test, an Individual assignment, a group assignment and a final exam.

Individual Assignment

Earlier in the semester we were already given an assignment for this module, which requires us to sketch drawings given to us by the lecturer through the TImeS website. This assignment aims to help students understand the elements of a construction by skecthing and labelling them.

There are 20 drawings to be sketched where the drawings are on the components and parts of a building element complete with labels such as roof section, pile cap foundation, locking pin, etc. . The drawings with the cover page were to be submitted on the 25th of June but it is allowed to submit earlier.

Unlike last semester, this semester had more assignments in the first half in addition with my participation in the QS Society, I was more busier & did not hand in the assignment earlier like last semester
